Stevenson Defeats Anchor Bay 35-7

In Friday’s MAC-Red matchup, the Titan football team defeated the host Anchor Bay Tars 35-7.

The Titans controlled the game all four quarters. Four of the five offensive touchdowns came from running back Nick Wingfield ’20.

The Titan’s defense held Anchor Bay’s offense scoreless until midway through the third quarter. The defense intercepted the ball once and caused a safety early in the first quarter.

“Nick powered through the Tars defensive line multiple times to fight for extra yards,” Josef Lombardo ‘20 offensive/defensive lineman, said. “He brings our offense together. The moment we start to lose focus, Nick calms us down.”

If defense is a good offense, the Titans played it almost perfect.

“Communication is key on defense,” Tony Shumate ’21, defensive back and wide receiver, said. “We have the chemistry as a unit, so we need to stay on our assignments and work together. We go out there having fun, playing as a team.”

The Titans next face Mott at Runkel Field in a non-conference matchup for a chance to make the playoffs.
