Titan Defeat Mott And Make Playoffs

In Friday’s non-conference game, the Titan football team beat Mott 23-20 to advance to the playoffs, their first appearance since 2015.

The Titan’s running game led the way. Nick Wingfield ’20, running back, scored three more touchdowns making that seven touchdowns in the past two weeks. The hero of the night was Zach Imms ‘20 who kicked the game winning field goal with under a minute to go.

The Titan defense held Mott to zero points in the second half. The offense did their job getting points on the board and the defense got the stops.

“It is a big accomplishment for sure,” Connor Everden ’20, offensive/defensive lineman, said. “Our main goal of the year was to make the playoffs.”

The Titans lost last year in the same situation against Mott and missed the playoffs. Not this year.

“It was a big step for our team after falling short last year,” Latrell Stovall ’20, linebacker and tight-end, said. “We saw the potential we had this year. Both senior and underclassmen worked hard. We did what we needed to do and played like it was our last game.”

The Titans face Mott at Runkel Field in a rematch to further advance into the playoffs.
