Titans Advance In Playoffs

In Friday’s playoff game, the Titans beat Mott 34-27 to advance to Districts, their first playoff win since 2009.

The Titans were down early, but fought back to take the lead. They never looked back.

“We stayed focused through the deficit because we came back from a much larger deficit in our Freshman year against Romeo,” Sal Madonna ’20, offensive/defensive lineman, said. “We are used to having slow starts. We kept each other up. We pulled through and got the victory.”

The work from the offensive line did not go unnoticed.

“You know the offensive line has really been executing all their stunts allowing me to have more one-on-one opportunities,” Nick Wingfield ’20, running back said. “We just need to win all our one-on-one battles and continue executing the line.”

The Titan running game was the key factor in another victory. Wingfield scored another three touchdowns making that 10 touchdowns in the past three games.

“Nick’s a great player on both sides of the ball, and I feel as if our offense is dependent on his success,” Ronak Sringari ’21, wide receiver and defensive back, said. “I would say Nick is an even better teammate than he is a player. He is willing to talk to you and help you no matter if you are a starter or not. He always has this confidence about him which helps to keep those around him level-headed. He also never gets rattled even after a bad play.”

The Titans next face the Dakota Cougars Friday at 7 p.m. to further advance their playoff run.
