In a Friday Night Lights playoff game upset, the Titans football team defeated Dakota 38-35 to advance to the Regional finals for the first time since 2009.

The Titans outscored Dakota 13-0 over the last 5:30 of regulation to steal the win.

“We worked hard and stayed focused,” Jordan Ramsey ‘22, running back and defensive back, said. “I remember praying to God that I would get that touchdown.”

The sophomore duo of quarterback Biaggio Madonna and Jordan Ramsey showed up when it mattered.

“It is crazy to be playing with him because he is such a great player” Ramsey said. “I would not be able to make the plays I do without him.”

The Titans defense made the plays at crunch time to help seal victory.

“We just kept watching film on the sideline,” Tony Shumate ’21, defensive back and wide receiver, said. “We just kept overthinking everything. Coach Newcomb helped us adjust by reminding us the District title was on the line. We stopped thinking so much, played like athletes and made the plays.”

The Titans next face the Cass Tech Technicians on Friday at 7 p.m. to further advance their playoff run.
