I got my first record player and album on Christmas of 2022. I was very excited to start a hobby that consisted of my favorite thing, music. Ever since that day my collection has grown tremendously.
Have you ever listened to a different form of music other than digital? Since 2008 vinyl records have started to make a comeback. I think that vinyl records should make a comeback and be more popular than digital music. Digital music is more accessible and used by everyone today. So why don’t we travel in time and music history, and bring back vinyl records?
With a note of nostalgia paired with a bold hold history vinyl can be listened to today with current day music. I think their prices are very reasonable but the good and special additions are very expensive.
Vinyl records should make a comeback because when I got my first album, it was a mix of hip-hop music from the 80’s going into the 90’s, and it felt like my own personal concert. The feeling was very nostalgic and personal. As someone whose personality is surrounded by music, I would vouch for those who own a record player and a collection of albums, who say that records need to make a comeback in society.
In 2008 vinyl records made a comeback from the small minority of people who still listened to them. LP sales increased by 89 percent. Since then, sales have risen over the years. There were an estimated 9.7 million vinyl record sales in 2018 alone. As of last year, 43.2 million EPs/LPs were sold in the US.
The aesthetic and feeling you get when you listen to a record during the rain or just in general, makes you feel warm, and it takes you back in time. The feeling you get when it’s raining or your day is feeling calm and comfy, it makes you want to wind down and get comfortable for the rest of the day/night.
The speakers of the record player make you feel like you are in a private concert, and you can play/request songs in any order you would like. The music coming out makes you feel like you are there with the artist in the studio as they’re singing/rapping. There are albums made in any genre for any age group.
They’re made for anyone who wants to explore different forms of music than just digital. In the 80’s portable CD players were the next Walkman. Then in 2001, Apple released the iPod. Finally, there were the streaming services. But nothing can quite compare to the feeling you get when you listen to music on a record. The sound of music on a record player is described to be an imperfect sound, but to me it’s perfect. What about you?
