The Detroit Lions are back for revenge following their loss to the 49ers in last year’s NFC Championship game.
After starting the season with a win against the Rams in overtime and a loss to the Buccaneers, the Lions overcame their troubles to beat the Arizona Cardinals in week 3. The next week during a Monday night football game the Lions faced the undefeated Seahawks and won 42-29. The following week the Lions kept it going with a 47-9 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
When this was written, the Lions are set to face the 5-0 Minnesota Vikings. While the Lions are truly firing on all cylinders both offensively and defensively, facing the Vikings still poses some threat to the Lions three game win streak.
“Our offense and defense are truly something else,” John Almurani ’26 said. “These past few games have just been so impressive, and I am really hoping that we can keep the momentum going into the playoffs. We face the Vikings next, and I do think they are a serious Super Bowl contender, but I see the Lions beating them.”
Some fans are doubting if the lions can win the Super Bowl this year, or even make it.
“I think the Lions will make it well into the playoffs and maybe to the Super Bowl,” teacher Jeffery Lopo said. “But I don’t think they’re actually going to win it.”
Despite injuries and other losses, students still are sure this is the Lions year to win it all.
“I think that the Detroit Lions are contenders for the super bowl. This year will be our year to win,” Evan Golinske ’25 said. “I think the injury to Aidan Hutchinson will hurt us, but it will not stop us from going far and winning the super bowl. I think this really is our year.”
