After three years of hard work and dedication seniors have a chance to celebrate achievements and reflect on the journey by leaving their mark on the hallways of Stevenson. A tradition for seniors is placing their handprints on the wall, creating a lasting memory.
It’s a meaningful moment for students like Adis Spago ’25 as classmates come together, seeing the faces of those they have grown up with and will soon graduate alongside.
Anticipation is evident on students’ faces as they close this chapter and step into the future.
“I liked how the handprint wall brought all the seniors together, making a memory of our time at school,” Spago said. “It shows a bond that we’ve built over the last three years together, and it’s meaningful because it represents our journey and impact at school.”
Student council adviser Lisa Lucas said the handprint is the starting mark for seniors as they check off those last steps toward graduation.
“Seniors have a bunch of lasts each year,” Lucas said. “From the senior sunrise to the sunset. This event is the first step on their journey to crossing the stage at graduation.”
For many students like Antonio Cholagh, 12, senior year is a time of personal and academic growth because it gives them the freedom to experiment with new classes and challenge themselves academically.
“One of the biggest highlights for me has been dual enrollment,” Cholagh said. “Which has pushed me beyond the typical high school curriculum and given me a real taste of college-level coursework.”
Cholagh added how it hasn’t always been easy balancing everything but knowing that I’m getting a head start on my future makes it all worth it. From prom to graduation, seniors create lasting memories while preparing for the next steps in life.
Cholagh said senior year is a unique time, filled with both excitement for the future and nostalgia for the high school years coming to an end.
“This year has really helped me grow, not just as a student but as a person,” Cholagh said. “I’m excited to see where this journey takes me next.”
