The Stevenson Ford United Dance team has once again taken home a big title from Florida during the mid-winter break.
The team competed in this year’s national competition. The team became silver medalists by placing second out of 56 teams in the Small Varsity Pom division. Coach Kristina Robinson said she is beyond thrilled with the win.
“We are a very young team,” Robinson said. “The best moment was watching the team perform on the national’s finals floor and seeing them perform the best they have all season giving 100 percent for the team. We beat our 2 other top competitors taking 2nd place. This was a goal of ours and we exceeded that goal.”

Her dancers share the excitement. Varsity Dancer Leah Pierce ’27 said she is overjoyed by the outcome of the competition.
“I am so proud of this team and how far we have come. It feels good to know that all our hard work has paid off,” Pierce said. “It’s really hard to pick just one of my favorite moments from the competition day, but if I had to pick one, I would choose awards. It’s such an amazing feeling hearing your name get called for the spot you worked so hard for.”
Winning isn’t new for the Ford United dancers. They’ve been lighting up the dance floor all season long. Robinson added how the team has placed the past two years at Nationals as well.
“We have placed in the top 3 teams nationally for the past 3 years,” Robinson said. “I am more than satisfied with this past season. After placing in the top 2 for all our regional competitions and being second in the nation for pom and sixth for team performance, I am so proud of how far this team has come.”
Robinson added that she is already looking ahead to the next season.
“We will have tryout information for next season after Spring Break,” Robinson said. “Be on the lookout for that to those who might be interested in trying out for the Nationally Ranked Dance Team.”
