Artificial Intelligence (AI) is growing every day. It is popularly used in learning, problem solving, etc. Nowadays, AI is also getting popular on social media. Gen-Z are showing interest for AI influencers, which doesn’t say that they aren’t interested in human influencers, but people can guess that growth of AI can change the taste of new generation over time.
AP computer science teacher James Zerilli thinks Gen-z, born in 1997, experienced the life before smartphones and social media, and Gen-z born in 2012 grew up with smartphones, social media, and ai which can affect their opinions about influencers.
“If you look up Google, Tilly Norwood, she’s a movie star, and Universal Pictures is making a movie with her. She’s all AI generated. So, I think you’re going to see a lot of AI in the future. It’s just economics. It’s cheaper to create an AI than it is to pay $5 million to a movie star. So, I think you’re going to see a lot of influencers using AI,” Zerilli said.
Jules Sitto ’27 likes human influencers. She thinks her friends more prefer AI influencers because they think it’s more interesting than real people. In based on ai growth she thinks AI influencers going to be more popular in the future. She thinks AI and humans can both spread wrong information in case of human influencers based on what are the sources they are using for information.
“AI is just advancing so rapidly, it’s kind of scary, and at the way AI is advancing right now, I can’t imagine how it would be in the future,” Sitto said. “there’s so many people who are truly gifted, and I think AI just replacing that is not good, because other people go to social media to show their talent, and by AI taking it over, they would have no place to show their talent.”
Marvin Kezy ’27 likes human influencers the most because they are really unlike talking to an AI. He thinks his friends are also interested in human influencers because they don’t like Ai. He thinks in the future human influencers are going to become more popular than AI. He also thinks AI is going to affect the true talent of people.
“It can cause people to be lazy because they can just use AI to get popular,” Kezy said. “AI is never 100% correct so it will spread misinformation. AI influencers can be popular if they verify their information they are spreading.”
