Damon Lott’s ’26 impact on the court goes beyond the stat sheet, according to his teammates, who point to his athleticism, energy and leadership as reasons he stands out on Stevenson’s varsity basketball team.
Attributed by his teammates like Jorday Dyer ’26 as often the best player on the team, Lott strives to bring his energy both on and off the court.
“He brings so much enthusiasm and strength to the team,” Dyer said. “He can dunk so well, and he’s the best shot blocker on the team.”
At the varsity level, players are expected to represent Stevenson with discipline and consistency, balancing both offensive and defensive responsibilities. Teammates say Lott meets those expectations through effort and experience according to Erkkinen ’26.
“I think it’s Damon Lott because he’s tall, he’s athletic, and he brings energy to the team,” Erkkinen said. “He gets buckets at the rim, and he’s been playing since he was a freshman.”
Beyond skill, players emphasized the importance of teamwork, communication and trust both qualities they say Lott demonstrates on and off the court.
“I think Damon Lott is the best varsity basketball player,” Joseph Haroney ’27 said. “He’s just so versatile on the court. He’s such a good player. I just love watching him play.”
Lott said he credits his success to confidence and instinct during gameplay. As the season continues, teammates say Lott’s charisma and positive attitude help elevate the team’s performance, reinforcing the role leadership plays in shaping a successful program.
“I think the best varsity player is me,” Lott, 12, said. “The game just flows naturally for me. I think everything goes well for me, and I make shots.”
