The gym hums with anticipation before the first whistle, a mix of nerves, excitement and quiet focus settling over the varsity volleyball team as players take their places. Hands clap in rhythm, teammates exchange quick words of encouragement, and the energy in the room signals that game night has arrived.
Leila Spuhler ’28 said that moment before the serve is where preparation meets instinct. Locked in and alert, Spuhler scans the court, ready to react to whatever comes next. Her intensity reflects months of long practices and high-pressure matches that have shaped the season.
“My favorite memory this season is winning our very first quad against Ford after going into extra sets and extra points,” Spuhler said. The win set an early tone, reinforcing the team’s belief in its ability to compete through challenges.

That belief carries over to each rally, where focus becomes just as important as physical skill. Zoe Blarek ’29 steps to the service line with a steady presence, her movements controlled and deliberate. Hours of repetition have built confidence into her routine, allowing her to contribute in critical moments. While points and scores matter, Blarek approaches the game with a broader mindset centered on growth and teamwork. Each serve represents not only technique, but trust in the players lined up behind her.
Across the court, senior Delaney Clark feeds off the atmosphere that only game days can bring. Between points, laughter and quick exchanges lighten the pressure, balancing the intensity of competition.
“My favorite part about playing volleyball are game days and playing with my friends,” Clark said. For Clark, those shared moments define the season as much as the matches themselves, creating memories that extend beyond the final score.
That sense of connection is evident as the team lines up before the opening serve, unified in purpose. Cheers ripple down the line, and the collective energy reinforces the bond built throughout the season. The players’ chemistry reflects time spent together in practices, matches and off-court experiences that strengthen trust.
Isabelle Reda ’28 said she credits much of that connection to time spent together away from regular-season play. Focused and fierce on the court, Reda brings consistent energy to every match.
“Team camp in the summer was one of my favorite memories this season,” Reda said. The experience emphasized hard work and collaboration, laying a foundation that carries into each game.
As the match unfolds, digs, sets and serves blend into a rhythm shaped by effort and teamwork. Each player brings a different role and perspective, but the shared commitment remains constant. Wins are celebrated, mistakes become learning moments, and the support from teammates never wavers.
